Strictly's Craig Revel Horwood engaged to boyfriend Jonathan Myring after two years of dating

Craig Revel Horwood has confirmed he's engaged to his boyfriend Jonathan Myring after two years of dating.

The Strictly Come Dancing judge, 55, revealed his partner, 35, popped the question while they were naked in the bath together on a romantic holiday in Australia last month.

He told OK! magazine : "Jonathan popped the question at the end of March on holiday in Tasmania and it was a total surprise – although I did almost ruin it all."

Jonathan explained he'd planned a picnic by the river where they could look for platypus - and he was going to pop the question as soon as they spotted one of the creatures.

However, he realised that platypus are "elusive" so changed his plan at the last minute.

He ended up proposing in a bathtub as the couple sipped Champagne.

Jonathan said: "In the end, I drew a salt bath, opened a bottle of champagne and we got in the bath together and I did it in there."

Craig added: "It was very romantic. A naked proposal, on his knees in the bath. It was hilarious!...

"I said, “Absolutely not!” [laughs]. And then I said, 'Oh, alright then, I’ve changed my mind.' I thought it was really sweet, actually, because Jonathan just said, 'I want to spend the rest of my life with you.'

"It was absolutely perfect. I would much rather be in a bubble bath with champagne than climbing up a mountain to a waterfall anyway."

Jonathan bought the couple matching engagement rings, which he had specially made.

He went on: "They’re wooden with gold bands through the middle. The wood is from the eucalyptus trees that grow around Ballarat, where Craig is from in Australia."

The couple were planning to announce their big news to friends and family by throwing a lavish engagement party.

However, they had to cancel their plans due to the coronavirus outbreak and are now planning to hold the bash once lockdown ends.

Although there's currently no date for the wedding, the couple have decided they will tie the knot at their country home in Hampshire.

Jonathan said he wants a "beautiful forest garden wedding," while Craig added: "I don’t want a big, splashy, massive wedding.

"It would be nice to have something intimate for ourselves and very close friends and family."

The pair met in 2018 while Craig was on the Strictly tour and Jonathan moved into Craig's lavish home in Hampshire after nine months of dating.
