Strictly's Craig Revel-Horwood booed for scathing put-down to Anton du Beke

Strictly Come Dancing judge Craig Revel-Horwood was hit with a barrage of boos after aiming a brutal insult at Anton du Beke during Saturday's live show.

Fan favourite and Strictly veteran Anton was back in the wings of the BBC studio this weekend after a two week stint on the judging panel, stepping in for Motsi Mabuse after she had to go into isolation following an urgent trip abroad.

Anton proved to be a big hit with fans of the show but Craig put him back into his place in savage fashion with a dig at him after he dared to heckle one of his comments to contestant Bill Bailey.

After comedian Bill and his partner Oti Mabuse had performed their Jive to Blondie's One Way or Another, Craig told them: "I thought it was a bit stompy and also a bit..." before he heard Anton shouting something from the other side of the studio.

Craig retorted: "Is that Anton booing from the cheap seats?"

After Strictly host Tess Daly remarked: "he wasn't on his own!" Craig added: "Sorry Anton, but you're no longer up here," with his dig met with a chorus of boos from Anton's fellow pros and this year's contestants.

A gleeful Craig responded: "That's more like it! That fills me with excitement."

Fans at home were equally unimpressed with Craig's scathing put-down. Taking to Twitter, one blasted: "Craig, Anton could replace you in a heartbeat" while another tweeted: "F*** you Craig."

Other viewers just revelled in the drama, with another posting: "CRAIG ANTON BEEF YAAASSS"
