Strictly's Craig mocks HRVY's name as YouTuber's performance hailed 'best first dance ever'

Singer HRVY had his name mocked by judge Craig Revel Horwood on Strictly Come Dancing.

The YouTube star and singer, 21, danced the Jive with his professional dance partner Janette Manrara.

The pair performed to Faith by Stevie Wonder feat. Ariana Grande, and were met with unanimous praise by the judges.

However, the sharp-tongued Craig had a typically cutting remark for the singer.

Craig said drolly: "H...R...V...Y...darling, where are all the vowels?"

Laughing, HRVY responded: "I don't like vowels, I got rid of them!"

However, Craig did eventually get to comment on his dancing.

The judge said: "Oh the Jive was absolutely spectacular!"

After Craig, head judge Shirley Ballas went on to maintain that HRVY was "the one to watch" and called his performance "fierce, fast, furious".

She continued: "Tonight, the talent has been amazing. You are no exception. You were absolutely on top of your game."

Meanwhile, fellow judge Motsi Mabuse had exceptionally high praise for HRVY's performance.

Motsi said: "I'm going to be honest here. For me, this was the best first dance I have ever seen. Never, ever, ever, ever!"

Subsequently, Craig and Shirley each awarded HRVY 8 points, while Motsi gave him the first 9 point score of the series.

HRVY ended up scoring 25 points in all, knocking EastEnders star Maisie Smith off the top spot of the leaderboard for Week 1.

On social media, Strictly viewers were full of praise for HRVY's work on the show.

One wrote on Twitter : "YAAAAAAAS @HRVY YES YES YES SMASHED IT SMASHED IT SMASHED IT!!!!!!!!!! A 9 on week 1 omg Harv I’m so proud of you #harveyonstrictly #teamfierymess @JManrara #BBCStrictly ".

Another fan of HRVY's commented: "Oh my days!!! This was AMAZING! Love, love, loved this! Better work on them arm muscles @HRVY, for when you lift that glitter ball trophy".

Meanwhile, a different Strictly viewer wrote: "HRVY wow! Wow ! Brilliant @bbcstrictly great first show everyone x @HRVY ".

Elsewhere, another fan of the show penned: "me and my whole family where shocked!! those legs moved so fast!! @HRVY congrats @JManrara on teaching him so well :)))".

Finally, one HRVY follower concluded: " #teamhrvy you definitely earned your spot at the top of the leaderboard tonight Hrvy!"
