Many of her 511,000 followers replied to say that she looked a lot like Gemma Merna, best known for playing Carmel McQueen in Channel Four show Hollyoaks.

But Catherine revealed to fans that her transformation wasn't permanent and only done for her latest screen role.

Director Lee Salisbury also shared a snap of Catherine in character as he teased fans 'She is gonna be trouble' over the new small screen project.

She joins ex-footballer David James, comedian Chris Ramsey and a host of other big names.

Since the announcement, she has tweeted: "Awwwww Guys I'm in bits reading your supportive messages! Thankyou!!! Means so much to me as this is a HUGE challenge for me!!"
