Strictly's Carlos Gu 'rejects' Molly Rainford's Instagram apology after bottom two setback

Strictly Come Dancing pro Carlos Gu has ‘rejected’ Molly Rainford’s apology to him, after the couple had to battle to keep their place in the show at the weekend.

Molly, known to CBBC viewers Nova Jones, had been a big ‘one to watch’ on Strictly ever since her energetic week one performance. After more great routines and high scores form the judges, the live shows had been plain sailing for Molly and Carlos, but that all changed on Saturday night, when they dropped into the dance-off for the first time, despite scoring 30 out of 40 for their Couple’s Choice routine to the Grange Hill theme tune.

The couple fell victim to the middle of the leaderboard ‘curse’ as they landed in the bottom two alongside Jayde Adams and her pro partner Karen Hauer.

A visibly gutted Molly tried to put a brave face on things as she and Carlos spoke to host Tess Daly after their fate was revealed.

Once both couples performed again, the Strictly judges were unanimous in their decision to keep Molly and Carlos. The youngest contestant of the new series took to Instagram on Sunday night to address the result, also offering an apology to Carlos, writing: "I’m so sorry to have let you down @gkx_carlos You are the most amazing partner and you have really been my rock this weekend. I promise to come back fighting next week, I’m having the time of my life and I’m not ready for it to be over just yet.."

Carlos is not having any of it though and was quick to shut down Molly's apology and offer her some much needed reassurance. Rep;ling to her Insta post, the pro dancer wrote: " Babe, you have not let me down at all!!! I’m please about our dancing last Saturday. let’s keep working and mostly have fun. Love you."

Molly's Strictly co-star Fleur East, herself having also experienced the disappointment of being in the dance-off was also quick to support her, responding: " You didn’t let anyone down Molly! You are a shining star and smashing it every week. Love you lots."
