Strictly’s Bruno Tonioli makes special appearance to give his verdict from US

Strictly Come Dancing star Bruno Tonlioni made his first ever appearance on this year's series as he surprised fans with a link video stream.

Bruno currently lives in the States where he is judging Dancing With The Stars, and so he is unable to join the show in person.

But he spoke to host Claudia Winkleman and judges Craig Revel Horwood, Shirley Ballas and Motsi Mabuse about the contestants' performances on Saturday.

Silver-haired Bruno wore a metallic silver suit as he enthusiastically recapped the week.

He then said on his video link: "Hello judges! Thank you so much, I miss you.

"How are you the judges? I love those new pods, you look like Daleks in glamour gear!"

When asked about Jason Bell's performance, he said: "Look at him, come on, a performance as bright as the costume!

"It was confident engaged he sold it, you cannot knock somebody down for giving it all he's got.

"He has to polish the technique, but he sold it!"

Claudia asked Bruno if he disagreed with the judges' verdicts while watching the show, and he replied: "I never disagree, I just present a different perspective.

"It would be unfair for me to interfere with the guys sitting there, it doesn't feel right.

"They are doIng a fantastic job, well done guys!"

One fan tweeted: "If they’re just going to use Bruno to do the recap, then that’s fine #strictly ".

Another wondered: "Maybe controversial, but does #Strictly need Bruno anymore??"

"Bruno's transatlantic contribution was, as expected, completely pointless #Strictly," remarked another.

"Why is Bruno reporting remotely? I miss him on the main panel #Strictly," added a fourth.

* Strictly Come Dancing continues next Saturday at 7:25pm on BBC1
