Strictly's Bill Bailey hints at chaos behind the scenes as he has 'no idea' what's going on

Bill Bailey has hinted at chaos behind the scenes at Strictly Come Dancing as he has no idea what's going on.

The launch is only weeks away, yet the 55-year-old comedian admitted that they still haven't been paired up with their professional partners nor started training.

This comes amid fears that there could be a national two-week coronavirus lockdown - though more recently a new study found that the rule of six is slowing down infections.

Welcoming comedian Bill onto Good Morning Britain today, Susanna Reid admitted that they had unusually been warned not to talk about Strictly because it was "under embargo".

"We've been told repeatedly by production staff and editors that you can't talk about Strictly because it's all under embargo," Susanna pointed out.

Raising his hands in the air, Bil said: "Of course!"

But Susanna continued: "Let's talk about Strictly. We know that you're taking part - what is it you can't tell us? I mean, it's not a big secret, is it?"

"No that's right," Bill replied. "To be honest, Susanna, I don't know much about what's going on. I mean, we haven't really started properly at all.

"At this stage I'm a little bit in the dark about it. Obviously I know about the show and I've seen the show.

"As far as the training and the dancing and who I'm going to be dancing with, none of that.

"I'm in the dark really."

Lining out the stringent measures the BBC programme has undertaken to combat coronavirus, Executive Producer Sarah James explained to Mirror TV last month the change in studio format and use of close contact cohorts between couples and bubbles.

She also confirmed that anyone who contracts coronavirus during the show will immediately be disqualified.

Other changes to Strictly this year include the axing of Blackpool and Halloween week, the reason for the latter being the show starting later than it usually would in late October and it being too early for a themed week.

There will be no elimination on the first week, as per usual, and there will be a group dance on the launch show - but all of the couples will be dancing together and won't switch partners.
