Strictly's Anton Du Beke 'tired of competing' and could become full-time judge

Strictly’s Anton Du Beke could be ready to hang up his dancing shoes to become a full-time judge.

The pro dancer stood in for Motsi Mabuse while she had to quarantine for two weeks after a trip home to Germany – and says he is tired of competing on the dancefloor.

Anton, 54, admitted: “As I’ve got older, I don’t like to compete now, funnily enough. If I’m playing against somebody in golf then I like that.

“I don’t like match-play as I don’t want to be that competitive anymore.

“I’m like, ‘If you win then I don’t mind…’ I’ve been down that road.”

Anton has been a huge hit on the judging panel, with fans calling for him to be a permanent fixture.

Unlike some judges, he has vowed never to be nasty to celebrities.

He told Paul McKenna’s podcast: “I’m not one of these people who says something cruel, then says, ‘I’m only joking’. They’re the most annoying in the world. I’m not mean, you see.”
