Strictly's Anton du Beke rushes toddler son to hospital for operation

Strictly Come Dancing star Anton du Beke's little boy has had to be taken to hospital.

Three-year-old George needed an operation and had to stay in hospital for a while to be monitored.

Anton apologised to fans for having to miss his online dance classes, as he explained the circumstances around his absence - although he is yet to talk about George's mystery medical condition.

"So sorry my loves, I won't be able to take today's classes as little George has had an operation and a short stay in hospital - but don't worry, he's all ok now!" Anton tweeted.

"A huge thank you to all the brilliant @NHS Doctors & Nurses for looking after us - you're all simply amazing. Anton XX."

Fans were quick to offer their support, with one tweeting: "Aww poor little George. Wishing him a speedy recovery."

"Get well soon George xx," wrote another.

And a third said: "Oh Anton, so sorry to hear little George has been in hospital, but very glad he's ok. Much love and virtual hugs. xx."

Since lockdown began, Anton has been offering ballroom dance tutorials through his YouTube channel to people stuck at home.

Today's 11am class was supposed to be his Choreo Combo livestream, which puts together the steps learned throughout the week.

He and wife Hannah welcomed George and his twin sister Henriette in 2017.

The foursome have been finding lockdown a challenge - especially as the brave parents took the plunge to potty-train their kids.

"Toilet training is definitely harder than Strictly," Anton joked back in April.

"There are more accidents with toilet training than there are with Strictly, and I am more of an expert on Strictly than I am at nappy training.

"I haven't managed to get them to quite grasp the concept of saying 'Daddy, I want to have a wee-wee' before we have a wee-wee.

"They surprise you every day, with the wonderful things they say and do and I am having the best time."

Anton, who was rumoured to have quit Strictly this year, added: "I get to play with them every day and read a bed-time story every night.

"I love waking up in the morning knowing I haven't got to get in the car to go anywhere. Before, I used to spend my time packing up dance gear and going to rehearsals."
