Strictly's Anton Du Beke reacts to Bruno Tonioli's move to Britain's Got Talent

Britain's Got Talent is back for season 16 with a brand new judge. The first two episodes of the ITV competition saw Strictly Come Dancing's Bruno Tonioli join Amanda Holden, Simon Cowell, and Alesha Dixon on the panel.

Bruno's debut was an emotional one, with the new judge hitting his Golden Buzzer for Ghetto Kids dance troupe in the first show, while viewers were loving a dancer with Down's syndrome who 'smashed stereotypes'. You can read more about Nathan here.

And following his first appearance, Anton Du Beke, who replaced Bruno on the Strictly Come Dancing panel, has spoken out about his former co-star's new role. Speaking to Susanna Reid and Ed Balls on Britain's Got Talent, Anton said it was a "genius appointment".

He told the GMB presenters: "I think he's brilliant, I think it was a genius appointment, if I was Simon Cowell I would have done exactly the same thing.

He added: I would have snapped him up in a heartbeat because he's so brilliant and brings such wonderful energy and vivacity and emotion. They all got emotional about the young lad the other night who was magnificent and they gave him the Golden Buzzer."

Bruno's debut was certainly an eventful one, with the star making his judging debut with hilarious buzzer gaffes, a speechless reaction to the opening act, and by joking that he'll be sacked after never having seen the show before and not knowing how it works. You can read more on this here.

Britain's Got Talent continues on Saturday, April 22 at 8pm on ITV1. For more showbiz and television stories get our newsletter here.
