Strictly's Anton Du Beke 'furious' at Moira Stuart for 'ignoring him' for 15 years

Anton Du Beke was left feeling "furious" after Moira Stuart danced with Alijaz Skorjanec on the Strictly Come Dancing Christmas Special.

The 55-year-old judge was spitting feathers after he watched former BBC newsreader Moira, 72, perform magnificently on the dance floor and said that he was shocked to see her there after she had 'ignored' his pleas for her to be his partner on the show for the past 15 years.

The Strictly judge had his tongue firmly in his cheek though when he gave Moira a verbal lambasting before reviewing her dance performance.

Anton said to Moira: "I can't believe this. For 15 years I have been asking you to do this show with me. I turn my back for a second and you are on with a young, firm model."

He jokingly added: "I'm furious!"

Anton went on to praise Moira's efforts though as he enthused about the dance partner he wished he had had over the past decade or more.

He said: "I tell ya, you were terrific. You were grooving, you were moving. I loved it."

Anton backed up his critique by exclaiming "you beauty" as he brandished a nine for her dance, with Moira getting eight apiece from the other judges, Craig Revel Horwood, Motsi Mabuse and Shirley Ballas, to give her an incredible 33 on her first Strictly appearance.

Viewers believed that Moira had made the right decision by choosing Alijaz over Anton.

One fan wrote on Twitter : "Moira choosing Aljaz over Anton...can't say I blame her but, dance partner wise, there isn't really a bad choice there. #Strictly "

While another added: "Moira Stuart ignoring Anton for 15 years so she could get on with a sex pot like Aljaz. Here for it! #Strictly "

On a night of Christmas generosity with the scoring, singer Anne Marie stood at the top of the pile with a perfect 40 after receiving tens all round for her fantastic efforts with pro dancer Graziano Di Prima.

It was no surprise that she took the winners trophy at the end of the show after a flawless dance that got everyone in the studio on their feet.
