Strictly's Alex Scott crashes out of show as devastated star's dream ends

Alex Scott was booted off Strictly Come Dancing.

Strictly hopeful Alex, 35, saw her Strictly journey cut short following a tense dance off against Chris Ramsay.

The former footballer made it to the quarter finals of the 2019 contest, but things fell flat on this musical themed week with the judges deciding her game was over.

The judges found themselves divided over whether to save Alex and her dance partner Neil Jones, 37, or Chris Ramsay, 33, and his Karen Hauer, 37.

Craig Revel Horwood and Motsi Mabuse chose to save Alex and Neil while Bruno Tonioli also chose to save Chris and Karen.

Head judge Shirley Ballas made the tough decision to give Alex and Neil the boot.

“Well again this is a very, very difficult decision,” the chief judge began as she gave her feedback after watching both pairs dance.

“Both couples danced extremely well and for me it’s going to go personal taste, and I'm going to go with the couples that I felt had the most content and more powerfully entertaining and therefore I am saving Chris and Karen,” she said.

Alex said taking part in the show had been a dream come true in discussion with Tess Daly.

“I’ve been a fan of Strictly forever so to even be here and dance here every week. I’ve loved every moment and I have to thank everyone, and everyone behind the scenes to make this show work,” she gushed.

“I’ve literally lived out another dream I had football and then this chapter. I have to thank my dancer partner, he’s incredible. Thank you to everyone,” she added.

Viewers tuning in to the BBC show, however, were not impressed - with some vowing to boycott the show after seeing Alex axed.

“Can't believe they saved Chris over Alex. Thank you and good night,” raged one unimpressed fan on Twitter after learning the result."

Neil picked Alex up and swung her around (PA)

“I voted for Alex...loads & Karim and I thought her stage show wasn't amazing...like the rest. All the other u felt like u were watching them on stage. Strictly's fault again. Set up I think. After 12 yrs wont be voting & wont be watching. I want Karim to win because of Amy,” fumed another.

Another wrote: "@AlexScott @Mr_NJones you were robbed. Shirley, what on earth?"

"So sorry to see you and Alex out. Enjoyed watching your incredible journey and how Alex improved every week. Voted for you both from the beginning.", said another.

But other delighted fans were happy to see Chris and Karen in the semi final.

One wrote: "Chris Ramsey is such a gem. What a lovely reaction to being in the bottom two. Happy to just be in the competition this far and thankful to everyone. Just a very nice chap".

"YES CHRIS!!! so so happy that him & Karen are through to the semi-finals! he was so surprised when Bruno & Shirley saved him. he’s improved so much since day one & this week’s performance was incredible!", said aniother.

Chris looked surprised as he found out he was going through to next week's show.

His cheeky tweet about it remained as on-brand as ever,

"Going to take every fibre of my being not to make a ‘semi’ joke this week... I’ll try my best, though.

"But it’s going to get hard.

"Ah s**t", he joked.

Now only four couples remain in the 2019 competition - with EastEnders star Emma Barton and dance partner Anton Du Beke, CBBC presenter Karim Zeroual and dance partner Amy Dowden, and soap hunk Kelvin Fletcher and dance partner Oti Mabuse joining Chris and Karen in the semi final.
