Strictly’s AJ Odudu unveils severity of awkward dance slip as she almost fell face-first

Strictly Come Dancing professional AJ Odudu has opened up on her awkward slip during Saturday night’s instalment of the BBC show.

The 33-year-old dancer was left gutted over the weekend during her fiery paso doble with dance partner Kai Waddington when she slipped during the performance.

AJ tripped over her stunning yellow gown while the pair were the middle of their dance – but she managed to come back from the mishap in an incredibly graceful manner.

And the dancer opened up on how much worse it could have been for her as she shared some insight into the blink-and-you-miss-it moment on BBC’s It Takes Two.

AJ, alongside her partner Kai, told Rylan that she thought she was going to fall head-first into the judges’ panel after her stomach dropped amid the awkward slip.

“I had such a lovely time dancing with Kai – as always – but I’m not going to lie, I was one slip away from landing face-first on the judging panel,” AJ admitted.

“I thought I was a goner. But being able to recover from that and dig my heels in and get through the dance - I was genuinely just so relived.”

It comes after the talented dancer shared a video of the mishap on social media, admitting that she was ‘gutted’ to have slipped over her gown.

“Gutted about the cheeky little slip on my dress during our power Paso tonight but I tried my best and we kept going. Olé,” she penned.

Strictly fans didn’t even notice her minor slip up (BBC)

However, Strictly fans didn’t even notice her minor slip up.

Instead, they thought it was a part of the choreography.

Fans flocked to her post to shower her with support as one penned: “I thought you were fantastic! I didn’t even notice the slip so to have done it and carried on without making it obvious just shows how professional you are.

"I didn't even notice the slip. You were great!" exclaimed another.

“Never would have guessed. You’re such a professional,” someone else swooned.

AJ and Kai landed at the bottom of the BBC dance show leaderboard on Saturday night (BBC)

Despite AJ’s professionalism, she and Kai landed at the bottom of the BBC dance show leaderboard on Saturday night.

They only secured 28 points out of a possible 40 and judge Craig Revel Horwood described it as 'disappointing.'

Nevertheless, the pair are determined to come back fighting this Saturday night for musical week.

Strictly Come Dancing continues on Saturday at 6:35pm on BBC One.
