Strictly's AJ Odudu makes surprise host debut on BBC Morning Live

Strictly's AJ Odudu was back on our screens this morning making a surprise host debut on BBC Morning Live.

The Strictly finalist was "deeply upset" on Friday (December 17) when she and pro dancing partner Kai Widdrington announced they had to withdrawn from the Strictly final.

AJ was unable to compete after sustaining an injury during training last Monday, which later transpired to be a torn ligament in her right ankle.

The couple were in tears during the final on Saturday when they spoke with Claudia Winkleman about having to step down from competing in the final.

AJ was visibly upset when she spoke on Saturday night's show and revealed she had a "broken heart".

But the 33-year-old seemed to have a smile back on her face on Monday when she surprised viewers by hosting BBC Morning Live.

Taking to Twitter before the show, AJ posted: "Today 9:15am On @bbcone I've whacked on my big girl pants to guest present Morning Live with @ravwilding. See you in a few!"

AJ was joined by co-host Rav Wilding and speaking at the start of the show, he asked: "AJ, welcome of course, but such disappoint for you at the weekend not being able to perform in the Strictly final, how are you feeling? Is it too soon to talk about it?"

"It's not too soon to talk about it, hey I may not have been able to perform but I loved it! It was a fantastic final, as we all know," she explained: "I was there with my sparkly boot, my crutches have been strictly-fied too. I was clapping and dancing my socks off even on one leg!"

BBC Morning Live airs weekdays on BBC One from 9.15am.
