Strictly result sees Jacqui Smith exit ballroom after dance-off and Jamie Laing dealt 'unfair' blow

Strictly Come Dancing has claimed it first casualty of 2020 with one famous face getting the boot from the show and upset viewers gutted for the other dancer in the bottom two, claiming they've been dealt an 'unfair' blow.

After week 1 and week 2 scores were combined, the leaderboard didn't make happy reading for either Made in Chelsea star Jamie Laing and former Home Secretary Jacqui Smith, with those two bringing up the rear on scores of 31 and 25 respectively.

In a rather surprising change to years gone by, the public vote actually reflected the Strictly judges' scores with Jamie and partner Karen Hauer and Jacqui and pro dancer Anton du Beke landing in the dreaded dance-off.

Notoriously hard to please Craig Revel-Horwood had particularly harsh criticism for both of them, telling Jacqui that her Samba to Help Yourself looked like she was "limping about at a party."

After finding out he was in danger, Jamie, who had to pull out of the show last year due to injury, said he wanted "to have the best time" in the dance-off even if it was his last dance, while Craig told him he "was a smashing dancer."

And in the end it was Jacqui who saw her time in the BBC ballroom cut short with all three judges deciding to save Jamie and Karen after both couples performed again in a bid to impress them.

The end result was largely well received by the public, although some viewers were upset Jamie had landed in the bottom two so soon after getting a second chance on Strictly.

One tweeted: "Really upset that he’s come back for a second chance and he’s in the first dance off let’s hope that he can impress the judges!" and another posted: "Poor Jamie. He's waited all year to dance again and he's in the first dance off."

A third reacted: "Jamie has come back after missing on on last year and he is in the first danceoff. A little unfair ngl" and, in agreement, another tweeted: "my heart hurts for jamie he’s waited a whole year to come back to this show. i know someone has to be in the dance off but still my heart hurts for him."
