Strictly pros 'competing to be partnered with brilliant dancer' Maisie Smith

The Strictly Come Dancing professionals are reportedly competing to land EastEnders star Maisie Smith as a partner because she's "a brilliant dancer".

The actress, who has had dance training, is among the famous faces competing for the glitterball trophy this year.

Bookies have already tipped her as the favourite to win, and The Sun On Sunday now reports the pros are desperate to partner with her.

A source told the publication: "All the male pros really want to partner with her, not just because she’s young and fit, but she’s also proven herself to be a brilliant dancer.

"She has a massive fan following, which often ensures contestants get far in the competition."

Maisie Smith previously took part in Strictly's Children in Need special (BBC)

Bookmaker Betway has slashed the odds on Maisie winning to 7/4, putting her ahead of the competition.

Her fiercest rival looks set to be Max George, who also has dance experience after shooting to fame in boyband The Wanted.

His odds are at 7/2, according to Betway, while Ladbrokes have also tipped Maisie with odds of 3-1 for her to steal the glitterball trophy.

Maisie opened up about her dance experience during a recent appearance on This Morning.

When host Phillip Schofield asked about her previous training, the actress said: "I'm not going to lie, I've got dancing experience.

"I've done a bit of hip-hop and street dance throughout my time but I have no technical ability at all."

Maisie also previously took part in Strictly's Children In Need special and was trained by her dance parter Kevin Clifton.

Strictly returns to TV next month for a shortened run, with other stars competing including Nicola Adams, Jamie Laing and Jacqui Smith.
