Strictly professionals 'worried' new judge Motsi Mabuse will favour sister Oti

Strictly Come Dancing have only just announced Darcy Bussell's replacement but there is reportedly already some concern.

According to a source the professionals are 'worried' that new judge Motsi Mabuse will give 'preferential treatment' to her sister Oti Mabuse, who is a popular member of the dancing cast.

They fear that there will be bias when it comes to dishing out scores and that Motsi, 38, will go easy on her younger sister, 28.

Motsi started out as a professional dancer on the German version of the show, called Let's Dance, before she was upgraded to a judge in the fourth series, and has remained in the role for the past nine series.

Motsi and Oti have already been in a similar position when Oti was a pro on the German show for two series and and has already experienced being judged by her sibling.

“Motsi is totally impartial,” said a source. “She will be scrupulously fair, as she always was with Oti on the German version.”

However the Sun reports that a source has said Motsi's appointment has "gone down like a lead balloon", after it was rumoured that veteran pro Anton Du Beke was to step in Darcey's shoes.

They added: "The pro dancers talking among themselves, saying it’s unfair and bound to cause a host of issues.

"A lot of the cast feel like they’re fighting a losing battle already. They feel Motsi will favour her sister.

"And some worry Oti will say who she is close to on the team — and Motsi will give them preferential treatment, especially the girls."

Speaking of her new role, Motsi said she was "thrilled and overjoyed" to be joining the BBC One series.
