Strictly pro Natalie Lowe says Cheryl doesn't have enough experience to replace Bruno Tonioli

A Strictly Come Dancing pro has questioned Cheryl's calibre as a Strictly Come Dancing judge as the Geordie star is tipped to land a shock place on the panel this year.

Last week, it was revealed that Strictly bosses are slightly concerned that long-standing judge Bruno Tonioli won't be able to honour his commitments to the show this year due to coronavirus enforced travel restrictions.

He usually spends the first part of the series splitting his time between the UK and America due to filming for the US version of Strictly, Dancing With The Stars, which is filmed in Los Angeles.

Cheryl was first rumoured to be on the Strictly Come Dancing lineup as a contestant but is now the bookies favourite, alongside Strictly legend Anton Du Beke, to step in Bruno if required, with him giving her his blessing.

However, former finalist Natalie Lowe doesn't think she's right for the job. Speaking to Closer, she said: ""A Strictly judge can't be just anyone. You need someone compassionate, who can give constructive criticism, and someone who thoroughly understands the genre.

"Cheryl is amazing, and she's been on The Greatest Dancer and The X Factor. She's an incredible dancer, too."

However, Natalie doesn't think Cheryl has what it takes to be a Strictly judge, adding: "Ballroom dancing is so nice - it's so technical. I think someone with more in-depth knowledge would suit better."

A rep for Cheryl claims that there haven't been any conversations with bosses about her being a judge and it is also being rumoured that, should Bruno miss shows, Strictly would run with just three experts on the panel.
