Strictly pro Dianne Buswell says celebrities who value marriage should avoid BBC show

Dianne Buswell has lifted the lid on the Strictly Come Dancing 'curse'.

The professional dancer revealed all during a special cameo appearance on TV comedy show Meet The Richardsons.

She fell victim to the famous 'curse' herself when she met now-boyfriend Joe Sugg on the BBC show.

But at the time they were paired up, Dianne was in a relationship with former Emmerdale actor Anthony Quinlan.

Although Dianne didn’t lift the glitterball in 2018 with Joe, she later said she had ‘won something a million times more special’.

The couple have been together ever since and live in a swanky £1.3 million mansion in West Sussex.

Appearing on mockumentary Meet The Richardsons, married comedians Jon Richardson and Lucy Beaumont discuss appearing on Strictly themselves.

In one of their latest episodes, Lucy tells Jon she has been offered the chance to take part in the show.

“I turned it down,” says cynical Jon, adding: “I’d rather not be waggling my genitals in a sequin top on telly.”

Lucy then looks at the camera and whispers: “I want to do that.”

Jon revealed he thinks he ‘probably can dance', but hates the ‘forced jollity’ of Strictly Come Dancing.

“You’d rather be with your family, wouldn’t you?” Lucy says, before Jon hits back: “I wouldn’t go that far.”

Hinting at the ‘Strictly curse’ Jon tells Lucy: “If you value our marriage, then you’ll say no to Strictly.”

Red-haired Dianne Buswell then appears on screen in a separate clip and says: “If she values her marriage, then maybe Strictly is not for her.”

It is not yet known if it is all a spoof - or if Lucy could indeed be one of their year’s Strictly Come Dancing celebs when the show starts again in September.

Although Dianne has previously revealed she doesn’t believe in the dreaded ‘curse’ at all.

In an interview with Heart Radio, she said: “Obviously we spend so many hours with our partners, but we’re professional dancers. We have done this our whole lives.

“It’s normal for us. It doesn’t mean just because you spend so much time together you’re going to end up together. So yeah, I don’t believe in the Strictly curse at all.”

But it isn’t called the ‘Strictly curse’ for no reason and since the show started 19 years ago there have been many couples to fall ‘victim’ to it.

The collapse of Neil and Katya Jones' six year marriage has been blamed on the show's curse.

During the 2018 series, shock pictures emerged of Katya locking lips with dance partner Seann Walsh, who was in a relationship with actress Rebecca Humphries at the time.

Documentary maker Stacey Dooley was supported by long-term boyfriend Sam when she lifted the Glitterball Trophy in December 2018 alongside dance mentor Kevin Clifton.

Just three months later, Stacey's three year relationship with the personal trainer was over and she now has a baby with Kevin.

And Rachel Riley split from her husband after being paired with Strictly star Pasha Kovalev. The couple are now married and share two children.
