The BBC have confirmed what will replace the Strictly Come Dancing launch show on Saturday night, after the new series was postponed until after the Queen's funeral. And the show that will air in its intended time slot is in a clear nod to Her Majesty's memory.

After a lot of speculation from Strictly fans that the pre-recorded curtain raiser to this year might be shelved in the aftermath of the Queen's death, it was confirmed that the launch had been pushed back to Friday,. September 23, just 24 hours before the live shows start.

The Strictly launch was recorded on Wednesday, September 7, the day before the Queen's passing, with the identity of this year's couples being revealed. But now viewers finding out which celeb is with pro dancer will now go right to the wire, with the programme being pushed back.

And the BBC have decided that the Strictly shaped gap in the early evening schedule for Saturday, September 17 will be occupied by a screening of the live action version of Paddington. If you aren't familiar with the film, which was released to cinemas in 2014, a synopsis reads: "An earthquake forces a bear from the Peruvian jungle to start a new life in London.

"He finds modern Britain to be very different from the stories told to him by his aunt, but makes a new home with a kindly family. However, a sinister taxidermist intends to turn him into a museum exhibit."

Paddington of course is a character which carries great significance and affection in the current climate, following the Queen's death, after millions of viewers were thoroughly heart warmed by his afternoon tea with Her Majesty at the start of the Platinum Party at the Palace coverage on the BBC.

In scenes that have been on heavy rotation since the much loved monarch's death, the Queen and Paddington share their love for marmalade sandwiches, before tapping out the intro to We Will Rock You on their china cups.
