Strictly judge Shirley Ballas issues health update on Good Morning Britain

Strictly Come Dancing's Shirley Ballas has issued a fresh health update after a "whirlwind" couple of weeks.

Last month the ballroom judge revealed she'd sought medical attention after BBC One viewers thought they spotted a lump under her arm.

Since then the 61-year-old has been keeping her Instagram followers up to date. You can read more on this here.

And appearing on Good Morning Britain's Wednesday show to chat about all things Strictly 2021 and about her new book, Shirley provided a fresh health update.

She told presenters Richard Madeley and Susanna Reid: "It's been the last two weeks, it has been like a whirlwind with everything else I've been doing.

"I was doing a Paso Doble move, put up my right arm one or two people got in touch and I kind of ignored it.

"Then there was about 11 people so I thought, no I better go to the doctor.

"I went off to see my doctor, she had a little feel around and she couldn't feel anything but she had some past blood tests from a few months before.

"I hadn't gone back for the results - my fault - and she was alarmed by them."

Shirley continued: "She redid all my bloods last week and she was alarmed by the testosterone levels, the lack of oestrogen levels and other things that were going on. So I'm going off for my test on Friday at King's College."

The Strictly judge said she hopes to get the results a week or 10 days after her appointment.

"You're entitled to worry," host Richard said. "Is this something constantly playing on your mind?"

Shirley answered: "I try not to worry because it's so busy and there are other things that people are relying on me for so every single day I just keep moving forward.

"I don't dwell on it because it will be what it will be."

Good Morning Britain continues weekdays at 6am on ITV.
