Strictly judge Motsi Mabuse to miss show as 'urgent trip' abroad forces her to self-isolate

In the second bit of Strictly Come Dancing-related drama in a matter of hours, judge Motsi Mabuse will be missing from this weekend's show after going into self-isolation.

The news comes on the same day that couple Nicola Adams and Katya Jones were forced to withdraw from the show after Katya tested positive for coronavirus.

Katya will have to self-isolate for 10 days, while Nicola must stay in quarantine for 14 days as she has been in direct contact with Katya.

And now it has been revealed that Motsi, sister of pro-dancer and last year's champion Oti, will also be absent from Saturday's Strictly live show after going into isolation following an urgent trip abroad.

In a statement posted on her Twitter, Motsi said: "Hi guys – Earlier this week I needed to travel to Germany for an urgent reason.

"I will of course be following UK government guidelines and self-isolating for 14 days.

"I’ll be watching from home and by the power of technology, should be in your living rooms. ‘Watch out though, I’ll be doing my own hair and make-up!"

The Sun reports that popular contestant Anton du Beke will take Motsi's place on the panel, following his exit from the competition with celeb partner Jacqui Smith, although this has not been confirmed.

Strictly has already suffered one big blow to its judging line-up this year after Bruno Tonioli was forced to stay in America to honour his commitments to US version Dancing With The Stars, rather than fly between the two countries like in previous years.

Last weekend, American footballer Jason Bell became the second famous face to be voted out of the ballroom after he and pro dancer Luba lost the dance-off to Nicola and Katya.

Strictly bosses have confirmed that there will still be an elimination this weekend, despite Nicola and Katya pulling out, meaning there will be four couples in next month's final, rather than the planned five.
