Strictly frontrunner AJ Odudu hints at struggle going into second live show after amazing start

Early Strictly 2021 frontrunner AJ Odudu has hinted that she's struggling to get to grips with her week 2 dance after a sensational start to her run on the show on Saturday.

The 33-year-old TV host blew her competition away with a blistering routine alongside pro partner Kai Widdrington in the BBC ballroom last week.

After the pair lit up the floor with a jive to DJ Fresh's Goldust, AJ earned an amazing first week score of 34 out of a possible 40.

Strictly host Tess Dal remarked: "As week one jives go...wowzer," before new judge Anton Du Beke said AJ and Kai's dance was as good a jive as he'd "ever seen" on the show, adding it was more "week nine than week one."

His fellow judge Motsi Mabuse told AJ and Kai: "For me, so far, this was the best dance of the evening without a doubt."

But, after being the toast of the ballroom this week, AJ, seen on TV this week as host of the Married at First Sight spin-off show Afters, has suggested that she's had a tough time with the dance she and Kai will perform on Saturday night - a Foxtrot to Tears Dry On Their Own by Amy Winehouse.

Posting a picture of her and former Dancing With The Stars Ireland pro Kai in the rehearsal studio, AJ wrote: "Dear Foxtrot, please can we be friends by Saturday? Lots of love, AJ."

Commenting underneath, Strictly co-star Judi Love told AJ: "But you still look amazing," while a fan posted: "’m sure you will have that lightbulb moment by Saturday and be best friends with the foxtrot."

Another of AJ's followers reacted: "You're going to be great, I'm sure! Honestly my mouth was hanging open on Saturday during your dance. I could have swallowing a fly, I wouldn't have noticed."
