Strictly fans 'moved to tears' by Nicola and Katya's 'historic' final dance

Strictly Come Dancing has been and gone for another year, and found its winner in the shape of Bill Bailey.

And while Bill has everyone talking, another moment that's on fans' minds is the return of Nicola Adams and Katya Jones.

The pair were gutted at having to pull out of the show after Katya tested positive for Covid, and they both entered quarantine.

But now that their time in isolation is done, the history-making pair took to the floor again for a frest routine.

Nicola and Katya are Strictly's first same-sex competing couple, a groundbreaking move from the BBC.

And fans adored their return, one writing: "I knew that I'd feel emotional watching Nicola & Katya dance but I didn't expect to cry."

Another tweeted: "I'm sorry but I get really emotional seeing Nicola and Katya dance on primetime BBC. Will never stop being an important moment."

A third addressed the pair directly, penning: "Thank you Nicola and Katya. The difference you've done to acceptance and inclusivity across the UK is incalculable."

Another noted a dance performed by the pros earlier in the series, which saw a number of male dancers wearing drag.

They remarked: "The Nicola/Katya pairing alongside the Priscilla group dance.

"In a time when our safe spaces have been extremely limited. It's warmed my heart to see us LGBTQ+ people lovingly represented on Saturday primetime.

Many viewers took to Twitter to praise the 'beautiful' routine (BBC)

"Thank you #Strictly. This series has truly been a gift."

"I'd be lying if I said I haven't got a tear in my eye!" a fifth admitted.

"Bloody beautiful and what a song to dance to."

Tonight's final saw Maisie Smith and Gorka Marquez, HRVY and Janette Manrara, Jamie Laing and Karen Hauer, and of course, Bill and Oti, battle it out for the Glitterball Trophy.

It was Bill and Oti who got to lift it - the second year in a row that Oti has won.
