Strictly fans get emotional at Joe Sugg's sweet reaction to Dianne Buswell winning a BAFTA

Strictly Come Dancing fans were in tears watching Joe Sugg’s sweet reaction to his partner Dianne Buswell winning a BAFTA TV award.

YouTuber Sugg, 33, and professional dancer Buswell, 36, have been together since 2018, after the content creator and the dancer were paired together on the dancing series.

And Sugg couldn’t have been prouder of his girlfriend, who won a BAFTA for Most Memorable Moment, for her 'blackout dance' with comedian Chris McCausland.

Dianne Buswell and Chris McCausland won last year's Strictly (BBC) (BBC)

Last year’s moving dance featured a part where McCausland, who became the first blind celebrity to win Strictly, covered Dianne's eyes as the stage went dark.

As Buswell was up on stage on Sunday evening accepting the award , which was voted for by the public, Sugg’s eyes filled with tears – which fans said had them crying.

“I've just absolutely wailed at that shot of Joe with tears in his eyes #BAFTATVAwards #BAFTAS,” one wrote on X.

“Omg Joe sugg crying at Dianne accepting the award has fully got me #BAFTAs,” another said.

And another added: “Joe crying whilst Dianne receives her award I'm not okay #BAFTAS.”

On stage, Buswell said the dance portrayed a “story of hope, determination, resilience and vulnerability”.

"This moment meant so much to the both of us, so I'm just so thrilled that we have this,” she added.

Buswell also shared a joke from McCausland, who wasn’t present to receive the award: "Chris did have something he wanted me to say, and that is 'after 22 years in comedy, he wins a Bafta for dancing'."

Meanwhile, Danny Dyer’s acceptance speech was too sweary for TV – but that didn’t stop him from delivering a heartfelt and hilarious message after winning Best Male Performance in a Comedy.

The EastEnders icon scooped the award for his role as Lee in Sky’s Mr Bigstuff, and while a toned-down version of his speech aired on BBC One, the real, expletive-laden version was reserved for those in the audience.

Taking to the stage at the Royal Festival Hall, Dyer started by poking fun at himself: “The acting was so bad it was funny,” before thanking his family and calling co-star Ryan Sampson “the best thing to come out of Rotherham.”

Despite being warned earlier about the Bafta rules, an emotional Dyer let rip with several F-bombs, which left the majority of his speech on the cutting room floor.

The 47-year-old said: “I want to thank Sky for giving our show a shot. F***ing hell, I’m choked up”.
