Strictly fans call for final to be postponed after AJ Odudu's injury forces her to quit

Strictly Come Dancing fans have called for the BBC One show's final to be postponed - amid AJ Odudu's injury.

The presenter has been forced to quit the programme after suffering a "traumatic" injury to her foot and she is unable to take to the dancefloor to compete for the Glitterball trophy against Rose Ayling-Ellis and John Whaite.

AJ has been left devastated by her untimely exit from the show and she took to Instagram earlier today to pen an emotional post, as she detailed the struggle to get fighting fit for Saturday's final.

After her exit was confirmed, fans rushed to social media to urge BBC bosses to let her get better before they run the final.

"Fully on the POSTPONE THE STRICTLY FINAL train because I love AJ so much and she deserves to be there," one wrote.

Another added: "This is terrible news. It would have been the best finale Strictly has had in years. It’s a shame they can’t postpone it until AJ recovers."

"How about they bring Rhys back for the final or perhaps postpone @BBCstrictly until the new year? I feel sorry for AJ and Kai they must be gutted. #strictly," a third shared.

A fourth wrote: "Absolutely gutted for @AJOdudu and @kaiwidd. Such a shame they can't postpone the final. #strictly."

AJ and Kai confirmed they were forced to exit the show after the presenter's injury.

In a statement, she said: I'm deeply upset that I am unable to perform in the final due to a torn ligament in my right ankle. Learning to dance over the last 13 weeks has been an incredible honour and to do it alongside someone as special, patient and devoted as Kai is something I'll treasure forever.

"Thank you to the Strictly family for the experience, the medical team for trying to get me back on my feet and mostly, to everyone at home for watching and supporting. You've made this experience one to remember."

She added: "Strictly Come Dancing has been a lifelong dream and I'm glad it came true. Good luck to my partners in dance, John & Johannes and Rose and Giovanni. I will be cheering you on (on one leg!)"
