Strictly fans brand show unfair as Katya Jones ‘returns after Covid’ without Nicola Adams

Strictly Come Dancing star Katya Jones was back on our screens on Saturday night after she and her partner Nicola Adams were forced to leave the competition when Katya tested positive for coronavirus.

Nicola tested negative but as the duo had to self-isolate for two weeks, the show decided it would not be fair for them to come back after missing two shows.

But Katya appeared in a group dance in honour of Blackpool week, which was called off due to coronavirus restrictions.

This had many angry viewers asking why she was allowed to return to the show after recovering from Covid, when Nicola was not allowed back.

The answer is simple, and host Claudia Winkleman explained as soon as the opening group number finished.

She said: "As with all of the group performances this year, that performance was recorded before our pros and celebrities form their bubbles."

One viewer had tweeted: "So is COVID not spreading in group dances then? Why is Katya there? #strictly ".

Another moaned: "Find it so unfair that Nicola had to leave strictly due to Katya having covid yet Katya is allowed to come back and do the group dances?!!! #strictly ".

"Was that dance pre-recorded? How was Katya there??," wondered a third.

But other viewers took to Twitter to predict outrage as soon as Katya appeared.

One joked: "i just know the karen’s are going to be giving ofcom complaints after seeing katya in that pro dance chill guys!"

Another added: "anyone who is confused why Katya is in the routine can go out with the bins on Monday. #scd #strictly ".

Nicola recently confirmed that she and Katya would be returning to the show for one last dance at the final, though they would not be returning to compete.

She told It Takes Two host Zoe Ball: "Well as he saying goes I do like doing the most.

"Me and Katya will be coming back."
