Strictly Come Dancing viewers 'sobbing' before John and Johannes even step foot on dancefloor

John Whaite and Johannes Radebe has Strictly Come Dancing viewers 'sobbing' before they even stepped foot on the dancefloor this week.

The couple began their bid for the final with an emotional couple's choice routine to Adele's Hometown Glory.

Before their performance, John and Johannes spoke about the story behind their routine.

The VT began with John speaking about his upbringing on a farm just outside of Wigan and gushed over his close relationship with his family.

His sister's also featured in the film as John recalled his coming out story.

He said he was 14 or 15 when his family discovered he was gay after a teacher, who John has spoken to in confidence, told them.

Beginning to cry, the talented baker added: "I remember my sisters said to me, 'We love you, you're our brother. We love you no matter what you are.'"

John went on to talk about being badly bullied for his sexuality at school but had his sister's fighting his corner.

Johannes broke down in tears during the VT (BBC)

He and Johannes then watched videos from viewers praising them for their journey and helping the LGBTQIA community, which left them both in tears.

"I want to dedicate our couple's choice dance to the people who perhaps feel a bit afraid in life, I want those people to know that it gets better," John ended the VT.

And Strictly viewers couldn't hold their emotions back.

It was an emotional routine (BBC)

Judge Craig Revel Horwood said that technically the dance was "really difficult", and added: "All the stuff you had to do… for the first time you were the star in this particular dance, I felt like you were leading it…"

Head judge Shirley Ballas said the dance was "on point" and that it was a "true John performance".

The couple were scored a total of 39.
