Strictly Come Dancing viewers point out Claudia Winkleman blunder in Christmas special

Strictly Come Dancing viewers have pointed out Claudia Winkleman made a bit of a blunder during the show's Christmas special.

The special episode of the BBC One TV talent show aired on Christmas Day and featured presenter Claudia counting down some of Strictly's best ever moments.

As she unveiled second place in the countdown Claudia told viewers: "At number 2, it's another samba from 2016 Glitterball champion Danny Mac and his partner Oti."

However, viewers flocked to Twitter to point out Hollyoaks star Danny wasn't the "Glitterball champion" that year.

TV presenter Ore Oduba won the 2016 series with his partner Joanne Clifton, and Danny and Oti Mabuse were runners-up.

Viewers couldn't resist explaining this on Twitter, with one writing: "Hang on..... Danny Mac didn’t win??

"Did anyone else clock that from Claudia?" one asked.

A third added: "That's what should have happened," and another wrote: "Claudia confirming that Danny Mac actually beat Ore in 2016 is my favourite Christmas present this year."

Oti may not have won the show with Danny in 2016, but she was crownded 2020 champion with Bill Bailey just weeks ago.

Claudia's countdown was topped with a dance by The Wanted singer Jay McGuiness and his partner Aliona Vilani for their 2015 jive to You Never Can Tell/Misirlou from Pulp Fiction.

Oti had two sambas in the top five, with her routine with 2019 winner Kelvin Fletcher to La Vida Es Un Carnaval taking third place and her performance to Magalenha with Danny Mac in 2016 coming in second.
