Strictly Come Dancing viewers make the same complaint following Blackpool return

Strictly Come Dancing viewers have made a string of online complaints on following Saturday night's Blackpool special.

The latest installment, which took place at the world renowned Blackpool Tower Ballroom, has come under fire after fans took grievance with "horror" camera directions.

Viewers felt let down as the popular BBC dance contest made its highly anticipated return to the iconic venue which has a history dating back to 1894. It was the first time the show was broadcast from the ballroom in three years due to the Covid pandemic.

The remaining celebrities donned their dancing shoes for one of the show's highest scoring weeks with just nine points separating the top and bottom slots on the leader board, reports Wales Online.

Contestants include Hamza Yassin, Fleur East, Ellie Taylor, Helen Skelton, Kym Marsh, Molly Rainford, Tyler West and Will Mellor. The latest series saw Fleur East and Vito Coppola scored the first perfect 40 with their Couples' Choice routine performed to a Destiny's Child medley.

However, fans following the show on Twitter found that changes to the camera work disrupted routines and felt it was "poorly shot". Viewers flooded the social media site to express their anger and most came to the same conclusion.

Jon Petweets moaned: "What the hell happened to the camera team?! The overall coverage was worse than usual!" Levi said: "Obsessed with the camera operator completely missing Ellie and zooming into a random step instead."

Jen commented: "What is going on with one of the cameras at the bottom of the dance floor tonight? Not having a great time is it?"

Briony tweeted: "Oh dear. Quite unsteady at the beginning. And what is going on with the camera angles? Plus, we shouldn’t see the attaching to harness on camera, very poorly shot."

GEe posted: "What is going on with the cameras tonight though?" Neo added: "The camera work is horror tonight".

Anton Starch said: "Despite the ropey direction/camera work I enjoyed Strictly tonight. Fleur was fab, tho I think if she deserved 40, Hamza & Helen did too, and there was a LOT more technical content in their routines, it seemed to me. They must be finalists; the 4th could be anyone except Ellie."

Later, viewer Theresa chipped in with: "Too much going on. Between the terrible camera work and too many dancers on the floor at once, I don’t know where to look." User @nutellabite noted poor audio quality too: "The audio was dreadful," to which Daydreamer responded: "I thought it was just me, really bad quality."

And @Luke512 tweeted: "The camera work was shocking! I honestly don’t know what went wrong with it!"

The BBC have declined to comment.
