Strictly Come Dancing to pay tribute to Caroline Flack as part of upcoming special

Strictly Come Dancing will pay tribute to former champion Caroline Flack in a special episode titled Strictly: The Best of the Final.

Flack, who died in February aged 40, won the show in 2014 with partner Pasha Kovalev.

The couple became the first pair to ever receive perfect scores from the judges in each of their finale performances. Perhaps their most memorable routine was their stunning showdance to Angels by Robbie Williams.

The BBC revealed on Wednesday that the hour-long special will also look back at other standout finale moments.

It is the latest in a series of Strictly specials to be announced, with other episodes focusing on the show’s themed weeks dedicated to musicals, movies and the infamous mid-series trip to Blackpool.

Hosted by Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman, the shows will also see judges Craig Revel Horwood, Motsi Mabuse, Shirley Ballas and Bruno Tonioli share their favourite memories.

Strictly’s team of professional dancers and a number of special guests will take part too.

The BBC also confirmed that Strictly: The Christmas Countdown will air on BBC One over the festive season, unveiling the show’s top 25 most memorable dances of all time as voted for by viewers.

Dates for the special episodes are yet to be announced.

The much-loved dance competition is set to return later this year, but with a shortened season.

“To ensure we deliver the high standards audiences know and love, and in light of the ongoing considerations around Covid-19, this year’s series of Strictly will have a slightly shorter run than usual,” the show confirmed in June.

The series typically returns to screens in mid-September, but the launch is expected to be slightly delayed because of coronavirus precautions.
