Strictly fans... we've been neglecting you. We do a weekly X Factor blog, but there's no regular chance for Organ Grinder readers to pick over the entrails of weekend TV's other behemoth.
So as we close in on next week's semi, time to reflect on what has been a great show - regularly pipping The X Factor in the ratings. Watching it sometimes makes you feel that, like John Simm's character in Life on Mars, you've woken up in the 70s.
Not that that's necessarily a bad thing. Bruce Forsyth's jokes may be somewhat wince-worthy, but his twinkletoed entrance each week is a joy to behold. Needless to say, Len Goodman is a legend, and the panel of judges all play their part admirably. And it has taken this show to allow many of us to rediscover the simple pleasure of dance.
This weekend there was a lucky escape for Matt and Flavia - he clearly messed up his steps on the foxtrot and samba. But not for the first time a pretty male face has been saved by the female-dominated vote. Gethin is equally easy on the eye but there's no question his feet did the talking this week - he and partner Camilla Dallerup topped the judges' ratings and sailed through to next week's semi.
The superb Alesha - subject of a Guardian profile on Saturday - was therefore forced into the bottom two and had to dance off against Letitia. The latter knew she had no chance of winning the judges over, but was both graceful in the dance and gracious in her acceptance of an inevitable defeat.
