Strictly Come Dancing's Sara Davies has 'anxiety radiating off of her' each week

Sara Davies admits she may have bitten off more than she can chew by doing Strictly Come Dancing.

The Dragons’ Den star says juggling her business, family and eight hours of dancing a day is gruelling.

She then struggles with the emotional toll of the results show.

Stationery entrepreneur Sara, 37 said: “It’s awful. Nothing can prepare you. I struggle with the emotion of being at the top of the leaderboard, bottom of the leaderboard and then on Sunday nights the magnitude of, ‘Will I get through it? I want to keep dancing’.”

Revealing pro partner Aljaz Skorjanec “could feel anxiety radiating off me” as results come in, Sara said she felt terrified despite high scores last week.

Sara starts training at 6am so she can still pick up her two sons Oliver, six, and Charlie, three, from school.

She then spends the evening filling a bucket full of ice water and putting it under her desk at home to soak her feet in.

Sara does this while making calls and catching up on work for a few hours.

She said: “I just want people to be able to see it and think, ‘Well, if she can do it, maybe I can do it as well’.”

Meanwhile, The Great British Bake Off star John Whaite, 32, admits he had reservations about appearing on Strictly, but told Hello! magazine he accepted the offer to dance in a same-sex couple as it was the “was the right thing to do”.

He added: "Deep down I knew that doing Strictly was the right thing to do. It was time to flick the switch and, as Jo says every day, go for gold."

*Strictly Come Dancing returns on Saturday at 7:10pm for Halloween week on BBC One with previous episodes on BBC iPlayer.
