Strictly Come Dancing's Neil Jones reacts to not getting celebrity partner this year

Strictly Come Dancing star Neil Jones has said "it doesn't matter" that he didn't get a celebrity dance partner this year.

He isn't part of the competitive line-up this year, while he does take part in choreography and performances with fellow pro Nancy Xu.

Neil also features in the big group performances each episode, but many viewers were annoyed that he wasn't given a partner this year.

Strictly spin-off It Takes Two host Zoe Ball asked Neil about the decision on Tuesday night, but he explained why he wasn't too upset about it.

He was just glad to see the show back on air amid the coronavirus pandemic halting several TV productions this year.

Lockdown and guidelines did mean the show had to start a month later, with it being a shorter series.

It also meant there were less celebrities taking part and less pairings.

This is why Neil wasn't paired up with a celebrity this time around it seems, but he confessed on the show he is just glad to have the show back.

He told Zoe: "We don't all have partners but it doesn't matter, because Strictly is happening and that's all we care about."

Zoe told him it was the show's "loss" and her gain, as he appeared on the show to discuss the choreography of the series so far.

Viewers were in agreement, with many still wishing he'd been given a partner like the other dancers - as they praised his comments on It Takes Two.

One fan said: "Flipping love Neil Jones! I really hope he gets a partner next year. He is too good to just be in the group."

Another said: "Neil is brilliant in choreography corner. Can he be back every week."

A third added: "Criminal Neil Jones hasn’t got a 'celeb' partner."

It Takes Two airs weeknights at 6:30pm on BBC Two.
