Strictly Come Dancing's Kelvin Fletcher gets standing ovation from the judges & viewers are in love

A few weeks ago he wasn't even meant to be on the show but Kelvin Fletcher made a red hot start to his Strictly journey on Saturday night.

The judges and studio audience were on their feet as Emmerdale actor Kelvin and his professional partner Oti Mabuse danced a Samba to 'La Vida Es Un Carnaval' by Celia Cruz. and as you can see in the above video from BBC Strictly, it was amazing!

Getting very hot under the collar, Bruno Tonioli called the dance "the best samba on any debut show in the UK or America" while even Craig, who said he had a problem with Kelvin's hands, said he loved the routine.

Both new judge Motsi Mabuse and Strictly Come Dancing's head judge Shirley Ballas were full of praise for Kelvin & Oti, with Motisi saying "well aren't we glad you stepped in?!"

The judges comments were borne out in their scores with each of them awarding 8, giving a total score of 32 - absolutely huge for week one!

And what the judges were thinking in the studio was being echoed on social media by people watching at home.

Kelvin's former Emmerdale co-star Danny Miller tweeted "Wow wow wow!! @kelvin_fletcher WEEK ONE?!!! Whattttt?? He absolutely killed it!! I can’t believe it! @bbcstrictly not seen a first dance like that ever. Not even at a wedding!"

One viewer tweeted "He was OUTSTANDING like wow!!!!!," while another posted "Nearly spilled my wine! So good.
