Strictly Come Dancing's John Whaite reveals what brought him to tears

Strictly Come Dancing star John Whaite has revealed that he was reduced to tears after practicing his routine for this weekend's show.

The former Great British Bake Off winner appeared on tonight's It Takes Two, on BBC 2, alongside partner Johannes Rabede.

The pair revealed they will perform a Rumba to Sting track Shape of My Heart this weekend.

A routine that Whaite describes as 'intimate' and 'emotional', which, as he admits, reduced him to tears during their practice on Monday.

He told the show this evening: "I'm not ashamed to admit this, but when we danced it in rehearsals I actually cried.

"We've done all of these very masculine and powerful things which has been great, but to finally show a sensitive and emotonal side is beautiful."

BBC 2 viewers were left equally emotional and excited for this weekend's show.

Siobhan said: "With the amazing natural chemistry that John and Johannes have, their intimate Rumba is going to be iconi - I can't wait."

Ryan Glendenning added: "It's a Rumba for John and Johannes this could be the best dance in Strictly history.

"What a moment this is going to be. Two men doing close intimate dancing.

"It will be a lovely moment."

John and Johannes opened the Strictly Halloween special on Saturday night with a quickstep to Creedence Clearwater Revival's Bad Moon Rising dressed as werewolves.

John came under scrutiny from the judges for his posture but the same-sex pairing safely made it through to the next round.
