Strictly Come Dancing's Dan Walker lets slip that filming has begun on new series

Dan Walker has let slip that filming has started on the new series of Strictly Come Dancing as he headed to London.

BBC Breakfast star and former Football Focus presenter Dan shocked his BBC co-host Louise Minchin when he revealed as a contestant live on the morning show last week.

Louise joked that she felt "betrayed" at not being in on Dan's big Strictly secret, while, talking about signing up for the show, he said: "I'm enjoying the experience, to be able to learn to dance and have some fun.

"But I won't be making any room on shelves in the house for the Glitterball."

And now, just as bookies make McFly's Tom Fletcher and CBBC presenter Rhys Stephenson early joint favourites to win Strictly 2021, Dan has revealed to his large Twitter following that filming is underway.

Posting a selfie of himself masked up on a train, he wrote: "On an early train to that there London for Day 1 of #Strictly Filming....Hair & makeup...Wardrobe," next to tick and lipstick emojis.

One of his fans reacted: "Good luck Dan. Now to decide what shade of spray tan to go for? Mahogany or full David Dickinson!!"

Another replied: "Make sure you’ve got enough sequins! Can’t have too much sparkle Dan!" and a third told him: "As someone who always appears to have his shirts fully buttoned up, how are you going to cope with the 'latin' shirts?"

At the time of writing, bookies Betway had Dan on odds of 11/1 to triumph in the ballroom this year, behind Tom and Rhys and other well tipped contestants like comedian Robert Webb and Olympic swimming champion Adam Peaty.
