Strictly Come Dancing's Chris Ramsey goes back to school in South Shields

Geordie comedian Chris Ramsey and his professional dance partner Karen Hauer took their quickstep back to his old school in South Shields this week.

The 33-year-old showed Karen around Harton Technology College and met staff and students there before they showed off their dance at assembly.

The pupils all marked the couple 10 - but head Sir Ken Gibson, who recalled Chris playing Bugsy Malone in the school play, marked them a canny seven. He said: "I am more realistic and I will be delighted if Chris and Karen get four sevens."

He wasn't far wrong. Chief judge on the BBC One show, Shirley Ballas, awarded a seven along with guest judge Alphonso Ribeiro , but it was six from Motsi Mabuse and just five from Craig Revel-Horwood, leaving the couple third from bottom of the leaderboard.

Chris, who is also known for his role in TV's Hebburn series, will now await the outcome of the viewers' votes which will be revealed on Sunday night at 7.15pm - unless it is leaked on social media first.

Motsie said: "Everything this week improved."

And social media seemed to agree. Joanna tweeted; "Every week you get better and better Chris. Love your partnership and journey with Karen."

And David said: "Am absolutely buzzing after watching Chris Ramsey and Karen Hauer. I went crazy for their Quickstep dance routine. Chris is definitely improving week in week out."

Chris has previously attracted lots of attention for his very mobile expressions during his dancing and especially awaiting results. He had never danced before the show.

Chris's wife Rosie, who makes the Shagged, Married, Annoyed podcast with him, was holding a Strictly Party at home after being in the audience for week one.
