Strictly Come Dancing's Caroline Flack tribute to air that had dancers in tears

Strictly Come Dancing will honour Caroline Flack in a tribute that had the show's professional dancers in tears.

Caroline, who won the show in 2014, took her own life earlier this year, with her death prompting an outpouring of grief from fans and those who worked with her.

And, as its 'best of' specials come to an end this weekend in the run up to the 2020 series, bosses are devoting some time to honour Caroline's memory and her dazzling performances in the Strictly ballroom.

After shows dedicated to Movie Week, Blackpool and Musicals, the look-back episodes will conclude with a programme all about the Finals over the years.

Strictly made its debut back in 2004 and since then Glitterball champions have included Jill Halfpenny, Alesha Dixon, Louis Smith and last year's winner Kelvin Fletcher.

Caroline triumphed with pro partner Pasha Kovalev six years ago and those who were on the show at the time broke down in tears by the tribute to her, which includes moving words from Pasha, who says " Caroline will always hold a special place in my heart."

Strictly pro dancer Janette Manrara adds: "The highlight was her showdance. You could feel she was lost in the moment. As a performer you can't ask for more. It is a memory I hold close to my heart.

"I think overall she would have said her Strictly journey was magical. I'm so happy she was able to pick up that Glitterball and win."

Strictly hosts Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman also pay tribute, saying: "She lit up the Strictly ballroom every single week."

The Strictly Finals special, including the tribute to Caroline, will air on BBC1 on Saturday, October 10.
