Strictly Come Dancing's AJ Odudu shares career update after pulling out of show's live tour
AJ Odudu has shared some exciting career news with her fans after pulling out of the Strictly Come Dancing live tour.
The TV presenter wowed audiences during the 2021 series of the BBC One dance contest while partnered with Kai Widdrington.
And it wasn't just about the dancing as the pair became subject of intense romance rumours.
But despite making it through to the final, their journey was prematurely ended when AJ suffered a foot injury.
She was left devastated at having to pull out of December's grand final when she tore a ligament in her foot.
AJ appeared, alongside Kai, on crutches and in a moon boot during the last show of the series which saw Rose Ayling-Ellis and Giovanni Pernice lifting the Glitterball trophy.
Then last week, AJ and Kai were dealt another blow when she announced she also had to withdraw from the tour.
The pair were hoping to be reunited as the hit show goes on the road to arenas across the country but her foot still hasn't healed.
Kai will instead dance with Strictly 2020 alumni Maisie Smith who has been drafted in AJ's place.
But AJ has shared some good news.
Taking to Instagram, the 33-year-old revealed that she has got a new job.
"When one door closes, an aeroplane door opens," she began her post alongside a snap of herself still on crutches with her right foot in her moon boot, stood alongside a trolly full of suitcases.
"I'm off to Vietnam to film a show coming soon to @channel4 & @hbomax... ( & I'm traveling light)," AJ added.
Dance partner Kai was among the first to respond, commenting: "Enjoy partner!!! Have an amazing time."
And fans were also pleased for the star.
"I’m so excited for this. Hope you have an amazing time filming in Vietnam AJ," @strictly_obsession said.
@natalieaygalsworthy commented: "Yes! So happy for you AJ."
"Queen! Keep shining AJ!" @biancaivey wrote.
But Kai still wasn't far from their thoughts.
@lacbecket said: "Wow ! Take care and looking forward to the show. Have you packed @kaiwidd in one of the cases."
"@ajodudu have the best time darling! Can’t wait for you to be reunited with Kai for a dance," @teamajkai_ wrote.
@gemmaarmstrong777 then added: "Have a great time AJ.. but what about Kai," to which AJ replied: "Kai's about to smash it on tour."
AJ has been applauded by fans for throwing her support behind Kai and Maisie.
Taking to Instagram, Kai shared a mirror selfie alongside Maisie, who was rocking an oversized yellow puffer jacket.
"Rehearsals for the @strictlycomedancinglive tour are well under way @maisiesmithofficial," Strictly's pro dancer shared alongside the snap.
Maisie was among the first to respond writing: "Absolute scenes," before adding: "P.s no you can’t have my coat."
AJ was also continuing to show her support.
"Go team," she simply shared to which fans flooded with praise for her being a 'class' act.
