Strictly Come Dancing result sees Chris Ramsey voted out but leave to a standing ovation

With just one week to go until the Strictly Come Dancing final, one couple has been booted out of the competition in fourth place.

And unfortunately for him and all of his supporters in the North East and further afield, Chris Ramsey has now left the ballroom.

Having made it way further than he ever expected to, South Shields comedian Chris and his professional partner Karen Hauer finished bottom of the leaderboard with a combined score of 54 after their Viennese Waltz and Rumba.

That score saw them in the dance-off for the second consecutive week, but unlike last week, when Strictly head judge Shirley Ballas' casting vote saved them, this weekend it was time for Chris & Karen to dance their last dance as they lost out to Karim & Amy.

During Saturday night's live show, notoriously hard to please judge Craig Revel-Horwood told Chris he was "very proud" of him, for being a complete novice dancer and getting so far in the competition.

Strictly judges booed

And all four judges were on their feet in tribute to Chris, who has given millions of viewers plenty of memorable moments including his salsa to Uptown Funk in Blackpool, mean and moody paso doble and of course the Couples' Choice routine to Geordie anthem Let's Get Ready to Rhumble by PJ & Duncan.

Chris & Karen's exit leaves Kelvin & Oti, Emma & Anton and Karim & Amy in the running for the Glitterball trophy, which will be decided in next week's live Strictly final.
