Strictly Come Dancing odds point to shock elimination this weekend

Strictly Come Dancing is no stranger to a shock result and bookies are predicting yet another one this weekend.

The new series of the BBC show has given us a number of talking points so far with Nicola Adams and Katya Jones having to bow out due to Katya testing positive for coronavirus.

And then came judge Motsi Mabuse having to go into isolation after an urgent trip abroad and on top of both of those things has been the fact that early frontrunner Maisie Smith found herself in the bottom two two weeks in a row, despite being nowhere near the bottom of the leaderboard.

Prior to last weekend's live show, bookies named Bill Bailey as their new favourite to win Strictly, despite him being one of the rank outsiders since the show began.

But comedian Bill has surprised everyone with his fancy footwork and has even had a 10 from the judges. Someone else riding high after last week is Jamie Laing, who also bagged some 10s on his way to topping the leaderboard along with Karen Hauer after their Couples' Choice routine.

So it's come as a huge shock that Betfair are tipping them to get the boot this weekend, ahead of JJ Chalmers, who finished near the bottom again last week.

Jamie and Karen have been in the Dance-Off before and bookies think it's firmly on the cards this week as he will be dancing a ballroom routine rather than his favoured Latin.

He's at 5/4 to go ahead of JJ on 15/8.

Strictly Come Dancing exit odds

Jamie Laing - 5/4

JJ Chalmers: 15/8

Maisie Smith: 6/1

Clara Amfo: 7/1

Ranvir Singh: 10/1

HRVY: 18/1

Bill Bailey: 33/1

Betfair spokesperson Sam Rosbottom said: “Perhaps surprisingly, the betting suggests Jamie Laing - who has wowed the judges and public in the past two weeks - is 5/4 favourite to leave this week as he returns to ballroom with the tango, just ahead of JJ Chalmers at 15/8.

"While the much maligned Maisie, in the dance off for the past two weeks, is 6/1 to leave.”
