Strictly Come Dancing judges slammed by viewers after Dev & Diane's shocking exit

Nearly every series of Strictly Come Dancing has a shock exit but the latest one has left viewers stunned and angry.

Not since Aston Merrygold was shockingly eliminated, leaving everyone dumbfounded two years ago, has there been a result that has caused a furore like

The couple had one of the best dances of the series so far with their Couples Choice routine to Friend Like Me last week but they went from a score of 36 to 27 this week for their Cha Cha Cha.

And their slump cost them dearly, landing them in the dreaded dance-off with Emma & Alijaz.

It was down to the Strictly judges to decide who to send home and they went with Dev & Diane, despite telling the couple they were surprised they were in the bottom two.

Viewers are incensed with the result but also by the judges' scoring on Saturday night, with some fans of the show angry and confused that some celebs got very similar scores despite having contrasting dance abilities and accuse the judges of over-marking in some cases.

Dev Griffin

Twitter had been awash with anger all day on Sunday after a and then more people vented their opinions at the end of the televised results show.

One ranted "Gotta love the judges being all shocked that Dev’s in the dance off when they praised utter dross from others to high heaven and gave him lukewarm comments and scores in a forgettable performance slot."

In agreement, another reacted "the judges hadn't over marked last night these wouldn't be in dance off. Stop blaming the public."

And a third posted "Well this is a bulls*** result thanks to poor scoring by the judges. Dev totally does not deserve to be there," and a fourth seethed "The judges are responsible for that car crash with their bloody stupid scoring last night."

Our favourite tweet might just be "I’m Dev-astated by this dance off."
