Strictly Come Dancing fury as voting fails again after the final's first round

Karim Zeroul opened the final of Strictly Come Dancing with a barnstorming Quickstep that earned four tens from the judges.

He and partner Amy Dowden had the audience on their feet and he earned judge Craig's 10 paddle bringing the couple's score to 40 points.

Kelvin and Oti, and Emma and , scored 39 apiece and then it was down to the audience to vote for their favourite. BUT the lines stalled initially prompting a flood of complaints on Twitter.

Some people could not vote and others said they were able to vote a second time.

Jane Robertson tweeted: "So who else having problems voting on #strictly #SCD2019 ? Site says I have reached maximum votes when I haven't cast any!"

Lalah-online tweeted: " @bbcstrictly online voting not working again. Rigged so that all the old Daily Mail-reading fogies voting for Anton by phone win through."

And Dana Babb-One added: "You had one job I.T @bbcstrictly #Strictly "

While the couples continued with their showdances, the BBC tweeted: "We are receiving a high volume of votes. If you are experiencing difficulties please try again later."

This prompted hundreds of replies complaining about issues with online voting every week, particularly on week four.

Josephine Wild tweeted: "But later will be too late."

Mike J-C replied: "I’ve just voted online at least 6 times?! Is that meant to be happening?" but Rachel Brown tweeted: "I haven’t voted once but it says I’ve used max amount."

Host Claudia Winkleman told viewers: "If you are experiencing difficulties voting online remember you can also vote by phone."

South Shields comedian Chris Ramsey and dancing partner Karen Hauer joined the other former competitors in the ballroom, having exited the ballroom in last week's semi finals. Ed Balls, Stacey Dooley and Joe Sugg were among those in the audience, having been part of the show in previous years.
