Strictly Come Dancing fans threaten to boycott show over 'outrageous' Dev Griffin elimination

Strictly Come Dancing fans are threatening to boycott the show following Dev Griffin and Dianne Buswell’s controversial elimination on Sunday night.

The BBC Radio 1 presenter and his professional partner found themselves in the bottom two after their Cha Cha Cha failed to secure enough public votes to save the pair’s place in the competition.

Griffin and Buswell faced a dance off against Viscountess Emma Weymouth and Aljaž Škorjanec and, when the judges were asked who they wanted to save, they unanimously voted to keep the latter.

On receiving the news, Griffin told host Tess Daly: “I’m not going to lie I am absolutely gutted.”

Griffin wasn’t the only one left disappointed, with many fans taking to Twitter to criticise the judges’ decision and threaten to boycott the show, branding the elimination an “absolute fix”.

“Might have to boycott the show now,” wrote one viewer. “Dianne and Dev were robbed!”

“Nah I’m fuming,” wrote another. “Dev and Dianne should have NOT gone out, boycott Strictly I say.”

One fan said: “I feel like I may have to boycott#StrictlyComeDancing next Saturday!! Cant believe one of the best dancers has gone and they have left someone who clearly can’t dance stay in…”

Strictly Come Dancing continues on Saturday at 6.40pm on BBC1.
