Strictly Come Dancing fans think Shirley Ballas is leaving after emotional comment

Strictly Come Dancing 2019 contestant Karim Zeroual was left moved when judge Shirley Ballas hailed him an inspiration.

But her remarks left some fans questioning if she'd just admitted she was stepping down from the BBC dancing series.

Shirley commented on "leaving" the show "inspired" by Karim and his dance partner Amy Dowden.

While it appeared she was referring to the finale, given it was its last episode, others were left unsure if she'd just confirmed an exit.

During the live final of the series, Shirley had nothing but praise for Karim after his final performance.

She told him: "I will leave after this final feeling totally inspired by you. You give so much to the younger generation watching this show."

Unsure if they'd got it wrong, fans wondered if Shirley meant she was leaving the series for good.

While it seems she meant the fact they would not be back for another episode until 2020, fans believed otherwise.

One fan said: "Is Shirley leaving #Strictly?"

Another posted a shocked face emoji, as others questioned the comment.

One viewer was quick to realise their mistake though, commenting: "I re-watched it I think she just meant leaving as in it's the last show."

Shirley and co-judge Motsi Mabuse were left "holding back tears" following Karim's previous performance.

He himself broke down in tears, as his time on the show was coming to an end.

Telling Amy how proud he was of her, the pair began crying and had to be comforted by host Tess Daly.
