Strictly Come Dancing fans furious after Glasgow Hydro cancels second show as customers arrive

Thousands of punters have been left furious after the Strictly Come Dancing Tour’s Glasgow show was cancelled for a second time today.

Hundreds of people turned up ahead of tonight’s 6.30pm show only to be told it was cancelled just one hour before it was due to start.

One customer was informed by car parking staff that the show was cancelled before the Hydro made an announcement to customers.

Others arrived to spot men in high-vis jackets on top of the venue's roof.

SSE Reward customers were invited into the venue to use its bar ahead of the performance.

It is understood customers have yet to be contacted directly about the cancellation.

Maria Shields, 48 and her mum Agnes, 80, had travelled in from Clydebank for tonight's show only to be turned away by car park attendants.

Teacher Maria told the Record: "We had only arrived at the car park when the girl at the barriers told us the show was not going ahead.

"She will have a tough job tonight turning away everyone who turns up.

Maria and her mum are massive Strictly fans having been to every Glasgow show for the past sixteen years.

"We arrived early especially because my mum has her wheelchair," added Maria.

"She is devastated, really it is the highlight of her year."

"It's really disappointing."

It comes after a sea of seething Strictly fans braved the cold this afternoon to be told that the performance had been cut.

Disabled people, pensioners and young children stood in the cold and rain for over an hour as security staff refused entry to the show which was due to start at 1.30pm on Sunday.

One hour after the matinee show was due to begin, SSE staff admitted a 'water leak' was to blame for cancelling the performance plus the later installment that evening.

A Hydro statement for tonight’s performance said: “We are sorry to announce that this evening’s performance will not go ahead as planned.  Our venue team has worked hard to resolve the water leak issue and to determine the cause,  which has still to be established.

“We further apologise to our customers at today’s matinee performance who had to wait outside the venue in the rain. The safety of our staff, customers and performers is paramount.

"We ask that customers please contact their point of purchase for a refund."
