Strictly Come Dancing fans adore Gorka Marquez's gesture to Rose Ayling-Ellis

Strictly Come Dancing fans have praised Gorka Marquez for a sweet gesture to contestant Rose Ayling-Ellis.

Professional dancer Gorka has been paired up with former Coronation Street star Katie McGlynn for the new 2021 run.

Meanwhile, EastEnders actress Rose Ayling-Ellis has become the first deaf contestant in the history of the show and has been paired with professional dancer Giovanni Pernice.

During Saturday night’s launch show, Rose spoke with host Tess Daly about how honoured she was to offer the representation for the deaf community and has been delighted by their response.

Following her words, the live studio audience including the professional dancers and other celebrities applauded Rose for what she said.

However, Gorka went a step further to support Rose by gesturing with his arms the applause sign in British Sign Language.

Naturally, the sweet gesture did not go missed by viewers of the show at home who were quick to praise Gorka for his inclusive efforts.

One Strictly Come Dancing viewer commented on Twitter : “Love that Gorka didn't clap for Rose, but signed "applause" instead. #Strictly ”.

A different fan of the show tweeted: “Gorka actually cheering correctly for Rose and Gio was amazing. #Strictly ”.

Meanwhile, another BBC One viewer wrote: “Honestly thought Gorka woulda been paired with Rose but what an absolute superstar he was signing applause rather than clapping”.

Elsewhere, another social media user penned: “Not me being surprised to see Gorka clapping properly..it’s everything. #deafawareness #strictly ”.
