Strictly Come Dancing extend online vote after technical issues

The Strictly Come Dancing quarter finals have been hit by technical issues this evening as fans said they were unable to cast their votes.

Twitter lit up after the BBC One show finished as people attempted to place their votes for one of the five remaining couples, reports The Mirror .

However, many were met with a problem as the website seemed to think they had already voted, or would only let them place one vote when they are entitled to three.

The BBC programme extended the time for viewers to vote for an extra 20 minutes until 9pm.

Fans still flocked to Twitter to comment, with one tweeting: "What’s going on with the #strictly online voting? Website says we’v e voted when we haven’t! Help @BBCOne."

While another commented: "Online voting not working!! Saying I’ve voted when I haven’t!! Need to vote for @IAmChrisRamsey #Strictly."

A third remarked: "What's going on with the voting? #strictly."

"How is anyone meant to vote when #strictly have announced voting is open yet the website says this will have to keep trying to refresh my browser," another wrote.

One fumed: "Ummm @bbcstrictly what's up with your online vote it went from being closed to saying I'd already reached my limit. FIX IT PLEASE #strictly #voting #fix."

Another wrote: "Tried voting on app but it said not open refreshed a few times then app said thanks for voting when I never did #Strictly."

Strictly later confirmed on their official  Twitter  handle that there had been technical problems with the online vote.

Their account tweeted: "We are aware that there were some technical problems with the online vote this evening and apologise for that. The online vote is now working and voting will remain open until 9pm. #Strictly."

*Strictly Come Dancing returns tomorrow at 7.20pm on BBC One
