Strictly Come Dancing Christmas special first injury as Fred Sirieix posts picture of bleeding foot

While the current series of Strictly Come Dancing continues, with just six couples left competing for the glitterball trophy, some new celebrities are training for the Strictly Come Dancing Christmas Special, with one already injured.

So far celebrity front-of-house Fred Sirieix, presenter Mel Giedroyc and furniture restorer and presenter Jay Blades have been announced to be taking part in the festive competition, with three celebrities still to be announced.

Fred, who hosts Channel 4's First Dates and stars in Gordon, Gino and Fred, is partnered with Australian professional dancer Dianne Buswell and has already injured himself while practising.

Posting a photo of his white sock stained with blood to his Instagram, he said: "This is what happens when a (frog emoji) dances with a (kangaroo emoji)" followed by emojis of faces in pain.

While we do not know how Fred gained the injury it is clear he and Dianne are still in high spirits from the videos and photos they have posted of them rehearsing their dance.

Mel is partnered with Neil Jones and Jay Blades will be dancing with Luba Mushtuk.

The Strictly Come Dancing Christmas special will air on BBC One on Christmas Day and recently the BBC has announced their Christmas schedule which includes the new drama A Very British Scandal, a Death In Paradise Christmas special and it's bringing back The Weakest Link for Christmas.

There is no air time yet for the Strictly Come Dancing Christmas Special but it will air on BBC One on Christmas Day.
